The Inverted Pentagram: A Symbol of Consciousness
The Circle & the Detached Pentagram
The circle surrounding the pentagram represents the objective universe—the physical world. Black Magic could be considered as the practice of isolated intelligence. The pentagram, with its apex angles not touching the circle, symbolizes the psyche detached from the causal world.
Standing on one apex angle, the inverted pentagram expresses the dynamics of consciousness: a continuous process of self-becoming and self-creation. In contrast, a pentagram resting on two apex angles represents stasis, stagnation.
Self-Becoming & the Dark Light
At the core of the permanent self lies the concept of “becoming”—a dynamic, individual evolution and expansion of consciousness. This constant “coming into being” requires an inner harmony, symbolized by the balancing act of the pentagram standing on one apex angle. This process of inner becoming extends beyond physical life, connecting the self
with the “dark light,” a manifestation of the Luciferian aspect within the individual self. Over time, the self no longer requires the natural universe for self-recognition. Instead, the objective world is viewed as a reflection within the inner self.
The Inner Mysteries & the Dark Fire
The uninitiated individual remains blinded by the external world’s light, forgetting the inner mysteries and staying trapped in the polarity of the mechanical world. To perceive the reflection of the external world within the self means to consciously recognize emotional, intellectual, and creative
impressions—and, through them, become aware of one’s own individuality. The “dark light” of realization is found within. As the connection between the self and the “dark fire” deepens, it becomes a fusion—an inseparable, irreversible union that transcends the polarity of the external world.
